Fan Coil

Sometimes, by drawing in surrounding air, it can effectively regulate the temperature in its vicinity. This process is controlled using a manual switch or a thermostat, which can command the control valve or fan to adjust the flow rate of incoming water or fan speed to achieve the desired temperature in any space.

A fan coil is typically supplied with hot or cold water from a central chiller or boiler. To transfer the energy produced by an energy generator to the surrounding environment, fan coils usually use four pipes: two for simultaneous cooling and heating and two for hot or cold water.

If you have limited space for installing a fan coil, a cassette fan coil might be the best option. These devices are commonly found in luxury shopping centers and are easy to select and install.

One-Way Cassette Fan Coil

These fans are typically used in central air conditioning systems. If you need a fan coil for central air conditioning, this type is recommended. The design features a one-way airflow, and installation on ceilings is straightforward.

Four-Way Cassette Fan Coil

This type of fan coil directs warm or cool air in four directions and includes a drain pump in each direction to remove condensed water. Air volume and temperature control in these devices are managed via remote control.

Concealed Ceiling Fan Coil

When purchasing a concealed ceiling fan coil, note that these fans are installed inside false ceilings. One advantage is the flexibility in choosing air outlet vent locations and the ease of installation. In most building projects, these fans are placed under false ceilings, often above the entrance to rooms, with an access vent below for maintenance and repairs.

Ducted Fan Coil

However, one drawback is that they occupy space. On the other hand, their installation costs are lower than other concealed or ceiling-mounted options, making them a suitable choice for budget-conscious buyers.

Applications of Fan Coils

Fan coils are primarily used where individual room temperature control is required. They also help prevent the spread of contaminants between rooms, making them suitable for residential buildings, hotels, hospitals, office buildings, and more.

One significant advantage of fan coils is that they require less piping space. They work efficiently with central heating systems and chillers and can control different areas separately to reduce energy costs. For example, this device allows independent air control in each room. Fan coils can also provide heating at low water temperatures, making them suitable for regions where heating is primarily generated through solar panels.

When designing building installations, wiring, and piping for fan coils, large ducts can be used to simplify the system. Fan coils are divided into two-pipe and four-pipe systems. The two-pipe system has one supply and one return pipe for hot or cold water. In contrast, the four-pipe system has two supply and two return pipes, enabling simultaneous hot and cold water supply based on control commands.
